I just started knitting in June...I think I am addicted. I think I like it because it is something I can do when I am watching tv with the kids or at night bed for bed. A few people ask me how I learned and I have to say mostly from youtube. My mom showed me a few things but if a pattern calls for a certain stitch I just youtube it.
I wanted to share the links I found most helpful.
Before watching anything I bought so yarn at Joann's and a pair of US8 needles.
It started here...I needed to learn to cast on and get going so I watched this
With this you can make a nice garter stitch scarf or I made a changing pad for my daughter.
Next I had to have a pumpkin hat for a Halloween costume. So you can't do that without a seam with straight needles so I had to venture into circular needles.
I googled for a pattern, bought more needles and yarn. Then watched this...
The first one titled Large Diameter Circular Knitting and then went on to watch the other one for Double Pointed Needles (DPNS).

Another tip for starting out...look for needles on
www.etsy.com someone might be destashing one they don't need but you do. Also you can find people destashing their yarn here too. And don't forget coupons from Joann's and Michaels.
