Brrr! It is cold outside. Time to Knit!

I just started knitting in June...I think I am addicted. I think I like it because it is something I can do when I am watching tv with the kids or at night bed for bed. A few people ask me how I learned and I have to say mostly from youtube. My mom showed me a few things but if a pattern calls for a certain stitch I just youtube it.

I wanted to share the links I found most helpful.

Before watching anything I bought so yarn at Joann's and a pair of US8 needles.

It started here...I needed to learn to cast on and get going so I watched this

With this you can make a nice garter stitch scarf or I made a changing pad for my daughter.

Next I had to have a pumpkin hat for a Halloween costume. So you can't do that without a seam with straight needles so I had to venture into circular needles.

I googled for a pattern, bought more needles and yarn. Then watched this...

The first one titled Large Diameter Circular Knitting and then went on to watch the other one for Double Pointed Needles (DPNS).

Two other sites I found helpful are
It lists all the abbrieviations and what they are called..helps when you need to google for videos :)
Ravelry patterns, forums, everything for knitting.
Another tip for starting out...look for needles on www.etsy.com someone might be destashing one they don't need but you do. Also you can find people destashing their yarn here too. And don't forget coupons from Joann's and Michaels.

So my latest creations...

I decided to learn to knit this spring. After listening to my mom and sister talk about the class they took and seeing all of the things they made I just had to learn. So I checked out youtube (always my first stop when I want to learn something new). There are some great videos on there.

This one was helpful

After watching this I made a changing pad for my daughter's room.

But then I had to join ravelry.com

What an awesome site! I think that I have more patterns in my notebook on there than I will ever knit. So here are some of my latest creations......
I have some item listed in my etsy shop

New to Sara's Scraps

So I have been back to listing on etsy( http://www.sarich215.etsy.com/). I have a new section for hair accessories. I found out in Feb. that I am having a girl in July! So I needed to make her matching bows for her outfits. Hopefully she has hair but if not I made her some headbands that you can interchange the clips with.
I am hoping to work on my scrapbook and maybe be caught before she is born too. Well see what that brings to my shop :)
